1. All About Brooksy

Brooksy is a beautiful year and half year old, 75lb.  German Shepard mix looking for a new home in (preferably) a rural environment , with adults who admire a very intelligent, inquisitive, handsome and well trained young dog.

My wife and I adopted Brooksy from the Oakland SPCA 8 months ago and for the most part he has been a great dog. Brooksy’s enthusiasm for playing, unfortunately has one drawback. Although he is NOT aggressive he lacks the ability to distinguish adult play (where his physical size is great fun) from the same enthusiasm he exhibits when he is around children. He simply has not grasped the fact that kids can be intimidated by a playful, insistent big dog. Although we dearly love this sweet addition to our home, we are simply unable to provide a child free environment for Brooksy on a day to day basis. Brooksy comes to work with me almost everyday. He is well behaved in the office for the most part but when kids are present in the office it makes for inappropriate behavior and a huge distraction to myself and others, which is unacceptable in the work place. I would like to heavily emphasize that Brooksy has NEVER bitten anyone, child, adult or animal. In fact one of the main reasons i picked Brooksy was because of how soft-mouthed he was at taking treats and how gentle his overall disposition is.

After several trainers and behaviorists we are at a loss and there is no other choice but to find Brooksy a more suitable home. We are not going to place Brooksy in the pound because he’s a really great dog with a good heart.

Any adult home, farm, ranch or community would benefit to have his love for life among them but he would be happiest if his human companions were adults that have time to take him on walks, throw balls, and so forth.

If you would like any additional information, please call me (Davy 831.600.6305)and I’d be more than happy to answer your questions. We just want him to find his place where he can be truly happy.

If you read all the way through this, thanks for the time, if you know anyone that would be interested in giving Brooksy a good home, please let us know.

    Cheers.
